An Invitation to Join #ChangeTheNow

In 2018 Georgian College, Canada’s first Ashoka Changemaker College, wanted to know if they could mobilize students from kindergarten to Post Secondary into a movement, effectively building a region of Changemakers. It was from here that #ChangeTheNow began.

Do good to do well

#ChangeTheNow was created on the beliefs that small acts can lead to big change and collaborations can turn into largescale movements. We believe together students’, educators’ and communities’ ideas can spark systems shifts that make will make our communities greener, healthier, safer, stronger and more inclusive!

    Dhrumil's Answer

During the HCDT (Human-Centered Design Thinking) Stage: Ideate, our team delved into the topic of "food miles" with a focus on creating innovative solutions to address this pressing issue. Food miles refer to the distance food travels from its point of origin to the consumer's plate.

    🤔 Reflection question

How might ideation help you develop your active listening skills to brainstorm and reflect on ideas effectively with your team?

    Natasha's Answer

Active listening and ideation go hand-in-hand, and when practiced collaboratively, they can elevate the brainstorming process and foster a more inclusive, empathetic, and efficient team environment. In essence, ideation, when paired with active listening, becomes a powerful tool for teams. It not only improves the quality and diversity of ideas generated but also nurters a team dynamic based on respect, understanding, and collaboration. We were able to comprehend everyone's point of view and gain a broader understanding of the project. The ideation process has successfully guided the team in deciding what to consider and what to ignore.

    Kavindu Elroy's Answer

going through the prototype &test stage helped us realize that even in failure we get to rule out what works and what needs more work, so it boils down to see how practical our project is and we get to look at it from a lens of the consumer and how our work impacts them.
