An Invitation to Join #ChangeTheNow
In 2018 Georgian College, Canada’s first Ashoka Changemaker College, wanted to know if they could mobilize students from kindergarten to Post Secondary into a movement, effectively building a region of Changemakers. It was from here that #ChangeTheNow began.
Do good to do well
#ChangeTheNow was created on the beliefs that small acts can lead to big change and collaborations can turn into largescale movements. We believe together students’, educators’ and communities’ ideas can spark systems shifts that make will make our communities greener, healthier, safer, stronger and more inclusive!
Will you join us in creating the positive change and contribute to 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals?

🤔 Reflection question
After completing CTN, what new awareness do you have for yourself (ME) and your community (WE) and what is one action you might take to continue to explore it?
Achu's Answer
People can take action by keeping up their education on diversity and inclusion. Reading books, taking online courses, going to seminars, or listening to podcasts are all ways that people might learn more about these subjects. People can also look for opportunities to interact with those who are different from them, for as by attending cultural events or participating in community service initiatives. This can help children have a greater understanding of and respect for diversity in their local community. In the end, further research and education on diversity and inclusion may help to create a more accepting society where everyone's thoughts and beliefs are valued and respected.

🤔 Reflection question
How might the prototype & test stage help you with overcoming a fear of failure or challenging your assumptions about what is ‘right’?
Achu's Answer
The prototype and testing phases may in a variety of ways assist you in overcoming your fear of failure or in challenging your perceptions of what is "correct." It makes it possible for you to envision the potential of your idea: By giving you a tangible representation of what you've imagined, creating a prototype can help you see your vision come to life. You'll be motivated to keep going and be able to overcome your concerns if you're aware of this possibility. You can try new things because of it: You can experiment with different ideas and concepts through prototyping and testing, which allows you to challenge your assumptions about what is "correct." This experimentation may produce unique and innovative solutions.

What did you learn about publicly sharing your ideas that you will carry with you in your future of work?
Joyal's Answer
Sharing ideas in public may be a terrific way to get feedback, connect with like-minded people, and perhaps open up prospects for collaboration or innovation. There are hazards, though, such as the prospect of your ideas being stolen or ridiculed. To reduce these dangers, carefully select who you share your ideas with and evaluate any potential copyright or patent ramifications. It's also a good idea to charge for where and how you share your thoughts publicly. For example, it's a good idea to share your ideas on trustworthy platforms and with trustworthy persons or businesses. Furthermore, expressing the goal and possible impact of your ideas clearly might help you gain support and preserve your intellectual property.

How might the prototype & test stage help you with overcoming a fear of failure or challenging your assumptions about what is ‘right’?
Athul's Answer
The stakeholders and their populations, particularly those in Barrie, have been mapped in the prototype. We have also researched the issues they face and the people we need to work with to find solutions. This would enable us to get over our fear of failing and the difficulties we might encounter. This helped us understand the problem and its potential outcomes.
